Picture the closing scenes from Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade...
That was filmed in Petra...
When planninmy trip to Petra I (of course) knew that was where Indiana Jones was filmed...
BUTTTT nothing could've prepared me for the shock and amazement of Petra. You could spend weeks exploring the ancient city and still not uncover all the carvings/tombs/caves. The colors and the intricate detail in the carvings are amazing. We visited Petra 2 days and hiked until we had blisters.
One of the most intriguing parts for me were the Bedouins who still live in the caves in the area around Petra.
